Summer Music Camp

Experience the Joy of Learning Music at Our Summer Camp 2023

Our Music Summer Camp is an integral component of the GGBC experience. This year it is scheduled on July 29/30 through August 6 at the renovated Youth Retreat Center in Lafayette.

 

Boys participate in either overnight or day camp where they have daily instruction in sight-singing, vocal technique, ear training, music theory, solo coaching, and group rehearsals.

 

Various music approaches such as Kodály and Orff Schulwerk are utilized.

 

Additional activities include team and individual sports, campfires, arts and crafts, star gazing, and skits. 

 

Camp directors and staff members are the same dedicated music staff and alumni that are known to the boys and their families throughout the year.

Typical Daily Activity Schedule:  

  • 7:15  Morning music-wake up

  • 8:00  Breakfast

  • 9:00-12:00  Music Focus

  • 12:00-1:00  Lunch

  • 1:00-2:00  Rest period

  • 2:00-5:30  Activity Periods

  • 5:30-6:30   Dinner

  • 6:00- 7:00  Camp rehearsal

  • 7:00-9:30  Evening Activity

  • 9:30 Music Focus -lights out

Activities include: 

  • Daily Swimming, Volleyball,

  • Basketball, Baseball

  • Nighttime campfires and

  • Night-hikes 

  • Game Nights

  • Instruments-bells, Recorders, 

  • Chimes, Singing 

  • Music Theory-Terms and Symbols

 

Other important information:

  • Parent prepared kid-friendly foods.  Special diets accommodated

  • Normal camp attire-sleeping bag and pillow. List sent with Registration

  • One experienced counselor per 5 boys
