In 2009, Chorus America reported in their Choral Impact Study that children who participate in a choir improve their memory, listening skills, and creativity; moreover, they developed good practice and homework habits. Later in life, choral singers tend to be more involved in their communities and better team players. Golden Gate choristers learn to set priorities, make responsible decisions, relate to their peers, present themselves with grace and dignity, and gain self-esteem. Successful members graduate with music skills, but more importantly, with a deeper understanding of themselves and their ability to be leaders in their community.
THE GOLDEN GATE BOYS CHOIR is distinct in that:
The older boys have leadership roles by mentoring the younger boys and encouraging their success, creating a rewarding friendship for both.
The choir is a member of Pueri Cantores an international Catholic choral organization that provides opportunities for school aged youth choirs from all faith backgrounds to participate in liturgical music. Pueri Cantores aims to enhance the lives of young singers through this musical experience conducted within a nurturing environment.
The Golden Gate Boys Choir & Bellringers is uniquely committed to serving and recruiting a diverse group of boys from throughout the Bay Area. Members include boys and young men from a wide variety of communities and schools, ethnic groups, religious faiths, and socio-economic backgrounds. As such, the choirs diversity is a true reflection of the Bay Area. The GGBC creates an opportunity for boys from varied backgrounds to come together as a team through music education and performance. Our boys and young men have learned to associate with peers from all walks of life, and they are spiritually richer for the experience.
