STEVEN J. MEYER
Artistic Director & Ringmasters Director
Mr. Meyer, a founder of the Golden Gate Boys Choir and Bellringers, has over twenty-five years experience working in boy choir programs. He directs the performance group of the Golden Gate Boys Choir and also directs the internationally acclaimed Ringmasters of San Francisco Bay. Under his direction since 1988, the Choir has gained much worldwide fame through numerous national and international tours. In 1990, his Ringmaster group had the honor of being the showcase handbell choir for the AGEHR (American Guild of English Handbell Ringers) Area XII convention in Sacramento. The choir has also performed at St. Peters Basilica in Rome three times for Pope John Paul II, for Pope Benedict XVI and most recently for Pope Francis in 2016.
Forrest Nolan is Assistant Director for the Golden Gate Boys Choir.
Forrest Nolan is an alumnus of the Golden Gate Boys Choir in which he was a Master Singer, Ringmaster and frequent soloist. He is the middle son of the three Nolan boys who were part of the GGBC program, along side his older brother Jeremy, Forrest and younger brother Christopher.
After graduating from Saint Vincent de Paul Elementary School, Forrest auditioned for and was accepted into the San Francisco School of the Arts (SOTA) which provided an emphasis on vocal opportunities, including choral music performances.
Forrest attends San Francisco City College. He continues to assist and support the GGBC as an Assistant Director, as senior member of B1 Ringmasters, as rehearsal leader with Mrs. Torrey on Mondays at the SF satellite rehearsals, and as section leader in the Saint Vincent de Paul Adult Choir on Sunday mornings.
Forrest may frequently be seen and heard as cantor at the Saint Vincent de Paul Church when the head cantor, Mr. David Kekuewa, is scheduled at the San Francisco Opera.
Mrs. Torrey, formerly organist and choirmaster at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in San Francisco, freelances as a substitute organist, especially at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in San Francisco. Mrs. Torrey is the main vocal coach for training the boys to perform their solos for promotion in the choir groups and for the opera (San Francisco Lyric Opera).
